Mistake from Die-maker makes coin worth INR 1,00,000
2016-09-16 Fri
A Gold Tanka of 11gm of Muhmud bin Muhammad Tughluq was sold for INR 1,00,000 at Todywalla Auctions in their 100th Auction held in Dec 2015.This coin has an error in the name of the king. The coin belonged to the Muhmud Bin Muhammad Tughluq but it was wrongly struck as Muhammad Bin Muhammad Tughluq. The difference of a few letters from “Muhmud” to “Muhammad” has made this coin unique!
This particular coin has the legend “Muhammad shah bin muhammad shah bin tughluq shah Al-Sultan” on the obverse and the reverse legend reads as “Yamin Amir Al-mu ‘minin ghiyath al dunya wa Al din Abul muzaffar”.
So maybe all mistake aren't that worthless after all.
